Settlement of Pension Claims Related to Seasonal workers/establishments
EPFO issued the notification dated 17-08-2022 regarding the settlement of pension claims of seasonal workers of seasonal factories/establishments. Fraction of service of the employee for six months or more shall be treated as one year and service of less than six months will be treated as zero.
In case of a seasonally employed employee worked in any establishment period of contributory service of less than one year will such service shall be treated as a full year .

EPFO issued the notification dated 03-08-2022 regarding the framed of SOP (Standard Operational Procedure) for settling of the claims on the top priority in case of death of the member by Industrial Accident.Immediate process should be followed in case of Industrial Accident Death so that family members/nominee can avail the benefits from EPFO and delay in such action will be treated as violation under provision of EPF Act 1952 and shall be liable for action as per law.

EPFO issued the notification on dated 27th April 2022 regarding the declaration of Contractors and Principal Employers on PF portal. Both have to registered the details of each other in their specified option on portal. Now, principal employers can manage the whole activity of contractors (nature of work//man power/challan submission). Separate license will issued to contractor in every contract including the Principal Employer details.
This will ease the work of compliances for both and as well as for the PF office also. EPFO issued the format also for Principal Employers regarding (disclosing the details of Contractors).

EPFO issued the notification on 22nd April 2022 for making aware to employers as many employers are submitting the contribution of those employees also who have attained the 58 years of age which is not applicable as per EPF act. Due to this at time of applying for full and final settlement employees are facing problems as their claims are get rejecting and EPFO offices to put lot of effort to correct the same mistakes..
Employers need to be more cautious while uploading the ECR on portal as EPFO has already provided the option to verify the employees who has attained the 58 years of age before submitting the challan.

EPFO issued the notification on dated 03-06-2022 declaring the credit interest @8.10% for the year of 2021-2022 to the account of each member of the EPF scheme .
The lowest interest since 1977-1978 when it was 8%. For the FY 2020-2021 it was the 8.5% as per the previous year 2019-2020.

As per the EPFO release payroll data dated 20th Feb 2022, it mentioned that 14.60lakhs employees joined the EPFO in the month of Dec 21 increase of 2.06lakhs as compared to previous year data. Out of 14.60lakhs employees 9.11lakhs new employees enrolled under EPF Act for first time and 5.49lakhs had rejoined EPFO. Establishments covered in Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat has employed around 61.44% of total payroll data.
EPFO provides benefits to the employees as well as for family members like pension benefit at time of retirement and insurance benefits in case of untimely death of a member.

As per the EPFO data, it was noticed that out of total pensioners 66.76 lakhs only 54.84 lakhs have registered online on website of Digital Life Certificate (DLC) for availing pension. DLC have rejected the 0.28 lakhs pensioners application and 14.78 lakhs pensioners have not registered on website till date for pension whereas the procedure was introduced in September 2014 by the government.
So, EPFO has instructed all the regional offices to complete due registration of pensioners on website at earliest by coordinating with Banks, Enforcement Officers and Common Service Centers for the same.

Earlier Pensioners were required to submit the Life Certificate at PF office in month of November every year so they can continue the pension which led to heavy workload at PF offices in November month. So, it has been decided that submission of Life certificate in November month of every year has replaced by it.
Now, Pensioners can submit the Life certificate at any time which will be valid for every year from last date of submission.Download Notification
Mandatory Compliances of Contractual/Daily Wages Employees Under EPF Act 1952.
EPF has issued the notification regarding the mandatory compliance for contractual /daily wages employees to ensure the security and has directed to all agencies , contractors and principal employers to mandate the compliance for contractual /daily wages employees . EPF had earlier also issued the notice on this subject dated 08/06/2013.

EPFO has approved the development of centralised IT-enabled systems by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). This move will be beneficial for all the PF members as the PF account number will be the same after the change of job. So, after implementing of this decision, PF members no need to worry about the transfer claims.
EPFO-Mandatory Seeding of Aadhaar Number with UAN till 30.11.2021
EPFO has issued the notification dated 15-11-2021 regarding the seeding of Aadhaar number of employees with their UAN on portal till 30.11.2021, so their contribution can be submitted.
Hence, employers will not be able to submit the contribution of those employees whose Aadhaar is not linked with the UAN on portal.

The Delhi High Court has extended till 30th, November of 2021, the deadline for the seeding of the Aadhaar number along with the Universal Account Number (UAN) and its verification. The order has been given dated 23/09/2021. It is applicable to all the establishments and Employees are covered under EPF in all the states.

The EPFO issued the notification regarding the extension of the deadline for Seeding of UAN with Aadhar from the earlier date 1st September 2021 to 31st December 2021 for the North East Region comprising of States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland & Tripura on dated 11/09/2021.
It is also extended for the Classes of establishments- Beedi making, Building and Construction and Plantation industries.
For areas and industries/class of establishments other than above, there is no relaxation however delay in filing of ECRs for wage months of August 2021 & September 2021 only in respect of EPF members due to non-seeding of Aadhaar in the UANs should not be presumed for levy of penal damages u/s 14B of the EPF & MP Act, 1952.

EPFO allowed the PF members to avail second non-refundable Covid-19 Advance as per The Press Information Bureau Notification on dated 31-05-2021.
Under this provision, non-refundable withdrawal to the extent of the basic wages and dearness allowances for three months or up to 75% of the amount standing to member's credit in the EPF account, whichever is less, is provided. Members can apply for a lesser amount also.

No relief to the Employee and Employer in seeding Aadhar with UAN as per EPF office order dated 01-06-2021.
Section 142 of the code on the Social Security, 2020 is applied to the EPF and ESIC also. ESIC has given relaxation till the update of the existing modules is done whereas EPF had uploaded the Notice on the PF portal to update the Aadhar of the employees to submit their contribution.
It was supposed that EPF would also give relaxation due to lockdown restriction in most states during Covid 19 second waves but EPFO ​issued the order to the Regional offices ​​to make it apply completely and aware the Employer and Employee to update Aadhar KYC.
